Trial & Error at It's Best in the Garden

Homestead Lifestyle - Trial and Errors Game

Life on the homestead recently has its ups and downs of course. So, recently my mom started a liquid fertilizer made from vegetable scraps and water that goes into a fermentation process for some time. I have been using it since the fermentation process is finished, but the bad thing is that the bucket of liquid and scraps is smelly. Do you know what pesky insects like bad odors? FLIES! So, we now have a major fly issue. There's flies everywhere because of the smelly bucket of fermented vegetables. We, as in me doing the physical work and my mom telling me what to do, relocated the bucket away from the back door. The flies have done so much now they have maggots crawling at the top of the buckets. Soon to become a fly swarm.

My only solution is to purchase a 50gallon food grade barrel and pour the liquid fertilizer into the barrel and dilute it with water for the plants. This way my fertilizer is ready to be used on the plants. Now, I just need to convince my mother of this plan. For those of you following my journey I appreciate your support and love. I hope this can help another gardener or market farmer out there.
